Terry Pratt

Terry Pratt was born in the United States, and has lived in the Netherlands since 1978.

Music has always played a central role in her life. She began playing violin and piano at a young age. After studying at the Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio, she came to Europe and studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland, specializing in old music, and at the Koninklijke Conservatorium in the Hague, studying viola da gamba with Wieland Kuijken and violin with Lucy van Dael. She taught music at the Amsterdam Music School for 20 years. She appears regularly as viola da gamba soloist in the Saint Matthew's Passion, and is a member of the Jenkins Consort which regularly accompanies choirs in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire.

Terry has always been fascinated by the healing powers of music. She has studied sound bowls with Hans de Back and is a dance leader of the Dances of Universal Peace.  The dances taught her to play music with her entire body.  She also studied contemplative music with Theresa Schroeder, the founder of the Chalice of Repose. There she learned to freely improvise and to play from her heart.  From Ibrahim Karim, she learned that all life is in trilling, has its own frequency, and that sound and form are related. and from Masuro Emoto that form can be influenced by one's intention.
